The series follows an alternate history where Japan got its hands on a superpower known as Lelouch Lamperouge's power of Geass, or as it is better known now, C.C.'s power. The series starts off with Lelouch Lamperouge and C.C., two teenagers who lost their families and were trained by the Britannian Empire to become its leader. Lelouch is a rebel against Britannia, while C.C. is loyal to the empire, but after meeting Nunnally Lamperouge, joins Lelouch in his fight against the empire. As the series progresses, there are many plot twists that occur due to Lelouch's "Geass" or "Power of Kings", which allows him control over people by forcing them to take an action they normally wouldn't do. One important aspect of his power is that he cannot order a person to kill themselves. The Geass power can also be transferred from one person to another, which is crucial in the series, since Lelouch's Geass was eventually transferred to Suzaku Kururugi. Towards the end of the first season of Code Geass, Lelouch becomes Kewell Lamperouge, or Zero as he is better known. He leads an army known as the Black Knights against Britannia in order to liberate Japan and create a better world. The second season starts off with Lelouch becoming Emperor of Britannia in order to take over the world under his own rule. The third season is a direct sequel to the second, and is a prequel to Code Geass R1. Lelouch seeks a way to bring his dead sister Nunnally Lamperouge back to life, and discovers that his mother was Suzaku Kururugi's mother as well. After Lelouch is killed by Suzaku Kururugi at the end of the third season (Code Geass R2), Suzaku becomes Emperor of Britannia and continues Lelouch's dream of creating a better world for all people. cfa1e77820
